StormGuard Rain Alerts · Effective date: July 12, 2026

Summary

StormGuard provides forecast-based rain guidance for places you save yourself. Data stays on your device except coordinates sent to request forecasts. Optional current location is requested only when you tap Use current location. No account, no push tokens, no background location. The free version shows non-personalized ads via Google AdMob; StormGuard Pro removes ads.

Data on your device

Data sent to our weather backend

When you request a forecast, the app sends latitude/longitude (and optional altitude) for a saved place to the StormGuard service hosted by Cloudflare, which retrieves MET Norway forecast data. Coordinates may be precise. They are transmitted over HTTPS in a request body, rounded to four decimal places for forecast lookup, and are not attached to a StormGuard account or advertising identifier.

Forecast responses are cached by rounded coordinate for a short provider-directed period to reduce repeated traffic. Cache entries expire automatically. Cloudflare and MET Norway may retain limited security/access logs under their respective policies. StormGuard does not sell location data or use it for advertising.

Notifications

StormGuard uses local notifications based on forecast rules you configure. If optional push delivery is enabled in a future production build, the app will request permission first and disclose the push provider here before collection begins.

Your choices, retention, and deletion

Location permission is optional and can be denied or revoked in system Settings. You can delete saved places and alert history in the app, or remove all locally stored StormGuard data by uninstalling the app. Forecast cache entries expire automatically. For privacy or deletion questions about service-side records, contact us below.

Advertising

The free version of StormGuard shows ads through Google AdMob. Ads are requested as non-personalized, so no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown and ads are not based on cross-app tracking. Google may still process limited data (such as coarse/approximate information and ad-interaction signals) to serve, cap the frequency of, and measure ads, as described in Google’s advertising and privacy policies. StormGuard Pro removes all ads, and sharing the app can unlock temporary ad-free time.

In-app purchases

StormGuard Pro lifetime unlock is processed by the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment card details. Purchase status may be stored locally on your device to enable Pro features. Restore purchases uses Apple’s store APIs.

What we do not collect ourselves

Note: the Google AdMob SDK is a third party and is covered by the Advertising section above.
